## How it works

### Radiate with Radia

Radia is clear in the bottle and on skin. The tan appearance develops gradually after application, so there is no brown pigment sitting on top like makeup.

1. **DHA meets skin.** DHA reacts with amino acids in the stratum corneum—the outermost, dead-cell layer of skin.
2. **Tone develops.** That surface-level Maillard reaction forms brown-toned compounds called melanoidins. Color fades as skin naturally sheds.
3. **Not a wash-on tint.** There is no instant brown pigment masking your natural skin. The visible tone forms after application.
4. **No UV required.** Get a tanned appearance without sunbathing or tanning-bed UV. Radia is not sunscreen—keep wearing SPF.

## The nighttime ritual

Apply at night, let the color develop gradually. Mist. Blend. Sleep.

1. **Mist.** Make Radia the last step in your evening routine. Start with clean skin and mist evenly where you want color.
2. **Blend.** Blend with clean hands, going lightly around eyes, mouth, nostrils, and hairline. Wash your hands when finished.
3. **Sleep.** Let the mist dry completely, then turn in. Color develops gradually overnight; apply again on another night whenever you want more depth.

## The full formula

Nine purposeful ingredients. Sugar-derived tanning actives, moisture-binding hydration, antioxidant support, and a streamlined preservation system—nothing more than the formula needs.

1. **Aqua — The pure base.** Purified water forms a clean, weightless base—no added colorants needed—so the nine-ingredient formula mists on clear and evenly.
2. **Dihydroxyacetone — The sugar-derived tanner.** Known as DHA, this sugar-derived tanning active is not a dye. It develops color by reacting with amino acids on skin’s outermost layer—no UV exposure required.
3. **Glycerin — The skin-native hydrator.** A moisture-binding humectant found naturally in skin. It draws water toward the surface, helping skin stay comfortable and conditioned as color develops.
4. **Propanediol — The naturally derived hydrator.** A naturally derived, lightweight, multifunctional humectant that helps ingredients dissolve evenly while giving the mist a smooth, non-oily slip.
5. **Erythrulose — The naturally occurring sugar.** A naturally occurring, sugar-based tanning active that compliments DHA, helping build a soft, even-looking tone.
6. **Sodium Levulinate — The plant-sugar safeguard.** The sodium salt of levulinic acid, an organic acid that can be derived from plant sugars. It supports a gentle, streamlined preservation system.
7. **Potassium Sorbate — The minimalist preservative.** A well-established preservative salt also widely used in foods. It helps defend the water-based formula from yeast and mold from first mist to last.
8. **Ergothioneine — The naturally occurring antioxidant.** A naturally occurring amino acid derivative made by fungi and bacteria. Known for its antioxidant properties, it adds antioxidant support without acting as another tanning active.
9. **Sodium Phytate — The plant-based stabilizer.** The salt form of phytic acid, which occurs naturally in seeds and grains. It binds trace metal ions to support stability and help the preservation system work efficiently.
